We use the software Kid Pix by
Broderbund in our lower grades and Microsoft Office by Microsoft in grades 3-8
for most of our projects. If you would like your child to be able to work
on projects at home but do not have Microsoft Office, there are a few programs
that you can use as an alternative. They can open office files and edit
them using these programs. Some of them are even a free download and have
some additional features that are not included in Microsoft Office.

Kid Pix is available in the Scholastic Software issue that I make available to the students on a monthly basis. If your child hasn't brought one home ask them to do so. Purchases from the Software club give us points to purchase additional software and technology books for our lab.
We also participate in a Printer Cartridge Recycling Program for empty Inkjet and Laser Print Cartridges. These are items that would be thrown in the trash and earn our school points for technology items. To date we have received a digital camera, a projector, and a computer for our lab. Mr. Luba and Mrs. Degnan have taken over this program. We will have more information available to you soon, but please keep the cartridges coming!
